Alicia Teo started off her career in the Roxy Group of Companies, helping the companies develop their business from humble beginnings of being an agent for Sharp products to an industry which expanded to Ipoh, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sungei Petani, Petaling Jaya in Malaysia, and Indonesia. She was instrumental in the negotiation with Toshiba Singapore for a technical collaboration agreement to set up a refrigerator and air-conditioner plant to produce goods under Toshiba brand. In 1971, she successfully obtained a 5-year pioneer status in Malaysia and Indonesia for all factories of the Roxy group in Malaysia and Indonesia. She also helped the Board to get the company listed in the Stock Exchange of Malaysia in the same year. In 1975, through her recommendation, the Board of Directors of Roxy Group ventured into the realty business and established their first hotel, Carlton Hotel, in Bras Basah Road. By the time she left, she was the head of 5 departments with seven secretaries working in the Secretariat Department under her charge. She was also appointed the Director of one of the subsidiary companies and the internal auditor of the whole group including budget planning/insurance arrangements for the whole group of companies in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

 

In 1983, she felt led to venture to Sri Lanka to promote foreign investment in Sri Lanka. She was instrumental in forming the Singapore Club in Sri Lanka and the formation of Trade Development Board in Colombo. She sat in the Advisory Committees of the Sri-Lanka Singapore Business Association and Sri-Lanka - Indonesia Business Association during her term of office in Sri Lanka. Besides promoting foreign investments, her role is also to mediate between the Sri Lanken and Singaporean investors and business match the companies in Sri Lanka with that of Singapore. She has often been called by the Singaporean investors as "Iron Lady" and "Unofficial Ambassador" from Singapore.

 

She helped to plant a local church in Sri Lanka which grew from a congregation of 6 to over 1,000 when she left for Singapore. In Sri Lanka, God has been using her in signs and wonders through healing the chronic sick. She served as lay leader in the various ministries in Singapore upon her return. She has preached to various ministries in Singapore and Sri Lanka. Doors have been opened for preaching to the leaders in Sri Lanka, Philippines and California. Today, she feels the call of God to minister to people in the marketplace, not only in Singapore but also in Australia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and the Philippines, hence the formation of City of Truth. She is married with two grown up children.
